Back in the wild 1980s I rode the rails commuting to my job in The City. In those days – and for a hundred years – smoking was allowed on trains. These cars were always smoky and loud. I avoided riding in these cars. Even passing thru the “Smoker” cars left you with lingering a cigarette smell. But a fabulous mall in South Beloit, Illinois this sign came up for sale. It swivels between “Smoker” and “Non-Smoking”. This sign is of its time and now in my collection. (Probable Chicago and Northwestern piece, mid-20th Century.)
